How does the raised bed planner work?
Select a plant from the palette on the left, then click on the bed grid to place it. Each plant occupies a number of cells based on its recommended spacing. The planner checks companion planting compatibility with neighbours and shows green borders for good companions and red borders for plants to avoid pairing.
What bed sizes can I plan?
You can set any custom width and length in centimetres using the input fields above the bed. Common presets (1.2x2.4m, 1x3m, 1.2x1.2m, and more) are available as one-click buttons. The grid scales to fit your screen.
Does this work on my phone?
Yes. The planner is fully responsive. On smaller screens, the plant palette moves below the bed grid and the bed scales to fit your viewport.
What is companion planting?
Some plants grow better next to certain neighbours. Tomatoes and basil are classic companions. The planner highlights good companions with a green border and warns about bad pairings (like tomatoes next to brassicas) with a red border.
Can I save my bed plan?
The web planner stores your layout in your browser automatically. For full bed tracking with planting dates, harvest logs, and watering reminders, use the Planting Season app.
